What are the benefits of Blood Donation ?
• Just by donating appx 400ml of your blood you can save another person who is in need of blood.

• Iron in blood is maintained at optimum level by regular blood donations.
• You don't need any special medication before or after blood donation.

• By regular blood donations, you reduce chances of heart diseases and strokes by more than 30 %.

• It hardly takes 45-60 mins to donate blood. You can continue with your routine immediately unless advised otherwise.



Is the basic test at the time of blood donations free?
• Basic blood and health check up is done for FREE.

Why should I donte  blood ?

• Statistics show that 25 % of us will need blood at least once in our lifetime.
If you donate , you will be helped by some one else.

How much blood is taken at blood donation ?
Appx. 400-450 ml is taken at blood donations, which is appx 1/11th of blood in your body. Your blood is replaced with fresh blood within next 48 hours.

Is there any ill effects of blood donation ?
No. Before all blood donations your health checkup is done to determine if you can donate blood. You can donate blood every three months.


How long does take ?
It hardly takes 45-60 mins for donation. After that you can go back to work or any other routine activities provided you are not advised otherwise by supervisors.

Is blood donation safe ?
Donating blood is a safe process. Needles and bags used to collect blood are used only once and then discarded, making spread of infection to the donor not possible.

I was denied previously. Can I donate now ?
Most of the reasons for denying blood donation are temporary like low iron count. If you are found fit after checkup, you'll be allowed to donate blood. It's advisable to maintain good health by balanced diet if you want to be a regular blood donator.

How often can I donate blood ?
An average person can donate blood in every two months but to assure safety a three months gap is advised and followed in India.

Am I eligible for blood donation ?
You are eligible for blood donation if,
you are in good health &
you are above 18 years &
you are not taking any medication &
you are not pregnant &
These are some basic eligibility criteria. However, your health checkup is done before every blood donation to determine if you can donate.
